Incident Command Initial. QCF Level 3 Fire and Rescue Services Award

Course Outline

This training gives the knowledge and understanding to personnel who respond to incidents and carry out Rescue and Firefighting (RFF) duties at Licensed Aerodromes as Incident Commanders at an Operational (Bronze) level during the initial response of an incident.

Course Aim

The Aim of the course is to introduce students to the principles of leading and supporting people to resolve operational incidents safely and effectively, utilising safe systems of work and the Incident Command System.

Course Content and Objectives

On the completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Understand the Incident Command System
  • Manage incidents utilising the Incident Command System
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Tactical Modes and Sectorisation
  • Apply the principle of risk against gain
  • Demonstrate a plan of actions to meet the needs of an incident
  • Explain responsibilities of self, crew and other agencies at incidents
  • Understand the legal framework around Incident Command
  • Have an understanding of the issues arising at a range of incidents

Course Outcome

On successful completion of the Initial Incident Command Course, students will be awarded the Level 3 ICS Initial Award.

Course Duration

Two days plus student assignments.

Course Requirements

Students will require a good understanding of the latest version of Fire Service Manual, Incident Command.

Student Numbers

The Level 3 Incident Command Course can accommodate 6 students.
This course is offered on a monthly basis and can be arranged around your own specific requirements. Likkewise, this course can be delivered at either Edinburgh Airport Fire Training Centre or at the client's site
